Description

Abstract / Description:
Imagery over the entire Falcon Island was captured under the Spatial Imagery Subscription Plan (SISP). Available as RGB with 4, 1km x 1km map sheet tiles and a project mosaic. Related imagery datasets are listed under the heading Additional Information. This dataset is not available for download via QSpatial. See under the heading Contacts for data supply details.
Purpose:
Management of natural disasters, climate change planning and to determine more accurate sea boundaries for Australia.
Additional Information:
Data Format: 8 bit 3 band (RGB) GEOTIFF files and 3 band (RGB) ECW files.

A digital orthophoto is a raster image of remotely sensed data in which displacement in the image due to sensor orientation and terrain relief have been corrected (orthorectification). Orthophotos combine the image characteristics of a photograph with the geometric qualities of a map and can be used as a backdrop layer in conjunction with other spatial information.

Data Quality

Data quality scope:
Level : dataset
Completeness (omission):

Coverage: The orthophoto tiles have a minimum of 1 pixel overlap and are available as RGB (Red, Green, Blue) with 4, 1kmx1km map sheet tiles and a project mosaic.
Positional accuracy (external, absolute):

The spatial accuracy is 30cm (@ 68% CI - 1 sigma)

History:

Process step:
Aero-triangulation Process Used: Combined project aero-triangulation from aerial GPS derived imagery positions. Ground control points were not used in the AT. Automatic measurement of tie points between the images (APM) and combined block adjustment.
Photo Control Points: None
Aero-triangulation RMSE Projection Centres: E=0.077, N=0.087, Z=0.354
Aero-triangulation RMSE IMU: X-Axis (rad) = -0.0000148; Y-Axis (rad) = -0.0000519; Z-Axis (rad) = -0.0000068
Rectification surface: Generated from Photography
Rectification Surface Accuracy Vertical: 0.15m at 1SD
Rectification Surface Accuracy Horizontal: 0.30m at 1SD
Rectification Process: Rectification is carried out for each strip of imagery by projecting each pixel onto the position at image height (obtained from the generated DSM/DEM) to obtain the correct position of the pixel.
Limitations of the Data:Data limited to project requirements
